UPDATE ,don't know what i did or what happened but the display now show bars on ssb when signal is coming in so i do have RX in ssb but i still have no audio ? AM/FM/PA is ok.

Q54 is ok ,it's more like there is no signal to amplify i don't see any bars on the display but when touch C82 with a small screwdriver i see bars but no sound so i replace C82 and still have nothing on ssb RX?

I wonder? could L15 and/or L16 be bad ?these are RX adjust for ssb.

got the radio fix Q38 was bad so replacing that fix the RX/TX and also replace driver and finals and now have full output power.

one another thing that i noticed is IC4 T7805CT gets really hot (can't touch it too hot) is that normal to get this hot?

just finish replacing d79 and d80 turn on the radio and receive was nice and loud for about 2 min and then went back down same as before,tx did not change still at 2w so what to do next???

are you using the radio swr meter or external? what is your dead key?if it is set too low you wont be able to calibrate the radio swr meter ,try using a external meter.

i have a uniden madison with the same problem tried different mic ,did an ailgnment no luck. and i get about the same 4w on am and 5-6 on ssb.

last night i did a alignment on the tx am and ssb and got 3-4 watt on am and could not get more than 5 watt peak on ssb what else can i do? just got another madison last week for parts if needed.

well i did check the voltage on the VCO about 2v on channel 1 and around 6.5v on channel 29 cant check channel 40 because it only transmit from 1 to 29, from 30 to 40 its 8.2 volt no matter the setting of the VCO?

i was doing some reading on the net tonight and i was thinking it might be a VCO problem?how can i check?i have a few radio's for parts can i take the VCO in anyone of them to replace the one in the 146gtl if it is the problem?will it work??
