malaysia 148 GTL sideband transmit problem
Check voltage on the AN612 IC5 I think. I have seen several with 12 volts on pin 7. Should be about 7 or 8 volts. This lets AM work OK but SSB sounds terrible.
If this is the case change the MB3756 switching regulator.

SS158 EDX 23mhz when turned on???
Sorry guys, That last post did not make much sence did it. I said you could buy direct from Ranger then (in the same breath) said they use a shop in Arizona. SS158 EDX 23mhz when turned on???
Hi Rick, Thanks for the reply! I have seen many of the galaxy radios with the 23-24 mhz problem that resoldering or replaceing the 10.240 cured. I did not consider  resoldering the 10.240 in this radio since pushing the band button would always make it jump to 27mhz. and once it locks up it st...

SS158 EDX 23mhz when turned on???
I have a SS-158 EDX nearly 1 year old. When I turn on the radio it shows 23xxx mhz on freq. counter. No TX/RX? I have to push the High/Low band button in/out one time and it will jump to the 27 mhz band. Once on 27mhz it stays there. I realigned the PLL ...did not seem to help? Not sure if it is a s...

S3?
Hi, not sure about the mosfets but the 10khz switch moves you up one channel or 10khz. It is used to give you the RC channels that are between channels 3-4, 7-8, 11-12, 15-16, 19-20.
Good luck with the mosfets!

Magnum S9 only half power?
Hi all, I have a S9 that was working great (45-50 watts with a 10 watt key) The radio is the newer unit with mosfets. I hooked it up to a brand new 25 amp power supply. I was talking on it when out of the blue the power supply took a dump...(went to 30 volts output) The radio is still working OK but...
