Okay. The driver is bad. All the other stuff is just hog wash. That's why you have a low dead key and not much swing. replace the driver and it will cure your problem.

Heres something to try. Turn the radio circuit side up and turn it on. When the receive goes quiet, take an end of a toothbrush and start pushing down on the board in little areas of the board. I suspect that you have a cold solder joint somewhere. When you find the spot that makes the sound come up...
