RE:chip has arrived
ive got the chip and fitted it and it seems to have restored the scan feature the only problem i have now is the left hand side of the led says 8 perminantly and the right hand side is fine and goes 0-9 any ideas

already been down that road they have passed me onto pacific radio and ive emailed them 5 times all ive got back from them is "we will get back to you" whatever that means lol not much for customer service

just the lcd display it was dropped and i bought it thinking it would be easy to get a lcd part but its harder than i thought could you send me the link to that site i think ive found it but cant see any reference to a lcd display there

ok try this leave the radio on with the mic out and set the channel if it jumps channels then its not a short in the mic if it still jumps then you could have a short in one of the switches on the front maybe

does anyone have a magpies autoscan diagram as i need to know the number of IC13 i know it starts mc14 but the rest of the chip i have here is burnt if anyone can help out as info on this radio is hard to find

to drop it onto frequency isnt that hard you need 2 diodes and 2 pieces of wire take the brown wire from pin 3 on the cristal board put 2 diodes into the pcb where you took the brown wire from so the line points to the board connect the brown wire to one of the diodes the remaining diode standing up...

power drop off
i came across this fault once on another radio i found it to be a resistor at fault when it got warm the resistor acted more like a thyristor its probley one thats taking a fair amount of current might be worth a look at the one of the resistors coming off the output or driver transistor as that are...

i posted a problem with the recieve before but upon fixing that i now have no mod on any mode before i change anything i thought id ask a second opinion
