Re: RCI 2950DX e chip problem!
Hi Zodiac.
unfortunately no.
As an update however, i seem to have cured it by squeezing the thing as hard as i could between thumb and forefinger. pretty sure its a dry joint now.
where are the e chips available from and how much do they cost roughly?
regards
jim

Re: Base Antenna
hey all. only 2010 now two years after i posted the original thread! i found this guy on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230432083076&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT He makes these things called 'super CLR' antennas which according to him is a rework of the old penetrator....

can anyone help with identification of antenna?
I have here what seems to be a Shakespeare big stick - but i am unsure as to the model. It has the shakeseare shiny sticker on the bottom of it, but no other info. It is in two sections, and when assembled it is roughly 16 feet long. There is no swr adjustment on the bottom, and there is a small yel...

...ok. not a lot of joy there then. I have been doing some research - and it appears that the old Hygain Penetrator was a .64 wave antenna, slightly longer than a 5/8ths wave and the largest apparently you can go before no more appreciable gain. I then did a search on google and came accross Wolfbay...

Hi Guys. gave up with the Avanti Sigma 4 i had up - it could only be bolted to the back wall of the flat where i live, and when the wind blew, it made a horrific wailing noise and that in turn woke the xyl which in turn meant i had to take it down - no place to store it, so i sold it. I put up an ol...

have i made an error? Realistic HTX-10
Hi Guys. long time no squawk on here! Jim here from the uk, just bought a Realistic HTX-10 on Ebay before reading the reviews - which don't look good on the modification front. Can i or can't i mod it for 25-29Mhz coverage, or should i just relist it back on ebay and look for something else? (i was ...

...oh and another thing...picking up on what others have said, i can concur that the course-tune doesn't actually go 5 khz either way - more like 3khz - apparently this is a direct result of the original modification. it also means that the frequency counter (pretty though it is) is innacurate. any ...

C.T.V.R 40channel 49mhz mobile rigs!
a long time ago, a company called C.T.V.R. imported a beautiful 49mhz mobile rig and 6 channel 5 watt handheld into the u.k. - with the sole purpose of trying to jump start 49mhz as a new cb band. they actually went on sale; but by the time a few had been sold; the powers that be closed the company ...

sigma four was THE antenna over here in UK. The basket arrangement is a sort of broadband/groundplane arrangement that worked suprisingly well. the original Avanti antenna was made entireley of aircraft aluminium and was very strong; mine survived an 80mph storm about 15 years ago. the antenna was e...

Is this a good mod? can it be done to my radio? currently the coverage is 25.6-28.3mhz. also, while were about it, does anyone know where i can get a cop...
