Sorry it has taken me so long to update, I don't have internet at the house anymore and things have been hectic too. It is having the same problem on PA. When I opened it up to look for C154, I noticed that it had been changed to another value, and some other components had been changed also. Unfort...

Galaxy 959
Hey, I have a galaxy dx959 bipolar type that has a strange problem. It is in my car, and it is affected by the ambient air temperature. When it is cold outside, I have no problems, but when it gets warm or hot outside the radio will quit modulating if left on for about 15 minutes. I reheated some of...

I think I remember someone with that radio having the same problem. The problem showed up after they had modified the radio and in doing so replaced the ceramic insulator with a mica (or mabey vice versa), anyway once they went back to the stock spec insulator the problem went away. If memory serves...

Re: Roger Fart
How STUPID is that, it's bad enough that people don't know when and where to use a Roger-Beep, and then someone wants to make it more annoying. Give us all a break ! 555, I don't remember the original person posting the question saying when and where they planned on using it, so don't assum...

I am assuming it squeals on transmit. Are you using talkback? If so, turn it off (or at least down, you don't need it except to tune your sound anyway) to see if that cures it. Often it will create feedback that will squeal. Another thing would be if you were using a power mic, try a non power mic t...

Her is the best way AM vx. SSB was explained to me: With AM 50% of the power is used for the carrier signal, and 25% on each sideband (remember you are transmitting over the whole bandwith for that channel). With SSB you don't send a carrier and the unwanted sideband is filtered, so all your power g...

I read the mods at http://www.dtbradio.com/tips but I guess i need things dumbed down for me, because I don't know the lingo and am not very technical. It says to do the same as the cobra 29 with the exception of removing capacitors. Is this the best mod? I see where it says to add capacitors, but n...

102" whip mounting
I'm wanting to jump up to a 102" whip, but want to figure out a plan for mounting it on my crown vic first. The roof would make it a little too high, but the center of the trunk seems like a good second choice. With the antenna height and another 3' for the trunk height, 11.5' will clear everyt...
