A problem with modulation sensitivity

Post by Jonathan_lemoine »

Radio Make and Model: Cobra 29 LTD ST
PCB Number: KEPC-255-C
PLL Number: D2816C
Test gear available: Digital Multi-meter, watt meter, modulation meter (trying to save up for a scope)
Symptoms: If i yell into the mic then everything is good. Modulation goes up to 100% and power swings to about 9 watts. but if i talk into the mic the modulation and the rf power doesn't even move. I have to talk pretty loud just to get the needles to move a little.

What is working: Everything seems to be working.

What has been tried: I tried another mic and retuning the power slugs but it still has no sensitivity.

Did it suddenly happen ?: I'm not sure.
Anything else that may be of help?:

Well, I found it. It was so simple too. I should have seen it earlier. It was a bad Dynamike knob. That was simple.

What's a dynamike knob? Is it similar to a Clitoris drop?
