Hi ,does anybody know the procedure for converting one of these from a 40 channel midband set to make it also have the UK 27/81 band aswell? i know if i do a direct swap with the tc9106 for a tc9119 it will give me the UK 27/81 as the pinouts on both pll's are the same,but the pcb in the Uniden 404 is different from a Uniden 100,cheers
The mod its self is easy better off converting it to uk 40 only. havent converted 1 since mids was made legal. theres 3 mods that need doing but 2 main mods- freq- and power spread.the time you mod the uniden 400/404 for 80 channels is the time you wish you hadnt . not all mid cb's run well on uk's they tend to run deaf. 40 channels-27/81 on a 404 run ok but not 80. most mids radios to uk's are not worth the money paid for the conversion board(piggie backed) as they all run deaf with 27/81. the uniden 400 unlike the 300-etc isnt as strait forward as you may think.
