You will not see that much power from that radio with the dual mosfets. In order to get that much you will need to make some major changes. It's not worth it. Get an external amp or install an internal amp.
I've worked on allot of these rigs. You can be satisfied without having to go to all of that trouble. That final is meant to be a replacement in mobile rigs that use other transistors that are discontinued and will be harder and harder to get.
You can get 40-50 watts PEP out of that just as easily as a modified Cobra 29
It already uses a 2SC1969 final and 2SC2166.
The whole system runs off the 2SB754 on the far right of the board.
Change that out for 2SB817 and then on top of that. take that silver vertical bridge out and jump the two outer most pins/posts and then take the center feed of that rail and attach it to 12 volts. So a wire from the power choke to the input side of the coil that feeds the final
It must go through the coil before the final. If you don't the current will spike and fry your final
Then do all of the power mods. Use a 1n4001 diode on the high power adjust resistor, or replace the whole resistor with a 100K
This will avoid that upsurge spike you get with the diode.
There is also am audio amp in the board you can replace for a bigger one
That's a sharp looking CB
