hello! and Help! lol

Post by satcomm »

Since this is my first post I thought I should say hello to everyone....

Hello all...

Since I am on a low budget like so many others
I thought I would try to see if I could find a way to
fix another CB to use for my mobile unit for now.
Until i can save up for a better one...

K, now right to the question...

I have this Audiovox mcb-40, it has problems.
I found it in a garage sale $5.00...

So I set it up with power 12v battery with proper fuse and antenna,
and lit it up.
No popping, sizzling or smoke....
A good thing I thought...

No TX
No RX - just hear a faint bit of distant skip

The needle moves up the scale slightly from background noise
when turned on...
When I Q the Mic the meter's needle moves backwards...
There are signs of previous mods or repairs inside this radio.
There are no signs of any discoloration on anything or other
hot spots other than where previously someone has done some soldering...
It looks like the board was removed from the chassis and placed back in.
The grounds all re soldered and voltage regulators re attached using thermal paste to the chassis with small bolts.
looks fairly clean inside....

Well, what do ya think guyz....?

Thanks
Sat
