HI, If any 1 in the UK buys from a company with the initials GDATA and its been mentioned before. - beware of these transistors, 2sc2166-2sc1969- 2sc1674.=fake. in the 80s they used to be a really good company for components.

Yeah there's always been quite a few fakes out there. A well known audio equipment manufacturer used some Sanken fakes a while back that ended up giving no end of trouble and letting out a lot of magic smoke 
I remember reading a thread somewhere where someone dismantled an original part and a fake and posted the photos. The original had a nice huge piece of semiconductor and the fake was about half the size.
If my memory serves me correctly I think there was even one that had two small transistors in parallel inside the case!
