I ran one of the 9000 in my pickup for 3 years until the 2003 tornado took my truck and the radio was lost.I had done about everything to it that could be done.it tunes like the 88 as far as the main set up .I think you will be happy with this radio. It has lots of power and is load if tuned right.

locate the small board the channel selector is attached to.on the right rear corner of the board locate the small wire loop approx. 3/16 inch long, cut this wire loop.then right against the board locate the yellow wire that comes from the edge corner of the same board and goes to the bright/dim switch.in the middle of this wire you will see a piece of heat shrink tubing.cut this tubing, and connect the wires.in otherwords the yellow wire from factory is not connected under the heat shrink.solder together the yellow wire, and re insulate it.........hope this helps

Post by tim_spur »

hey ramblin man i went to the link you gave me on the voyage and it said there were 4 little resistors right behind the channel switch on the circuit board i cut all 4 of them out and bam went straight to 27.185 ch.19 and the rest of the 40 ch. cb band ..thanks ....got another question...the radio is new out the box and i ordered the 2030 final power kit for it ..should i peak and tune it before i put the power kit in it ?and what are the locations for am power and modulation dont really have much use for the sideband

the voyage tunes the same as a galaxy 88.unless you just want to do this 2030 mod it is like the 88.I personally would not do it since you will not gain enough to see it on someone elses radio that receives you.just keep the mod kit and you could do it if the finals ever go out.if you would like to do a mod I like for this radio it is just a swing mod and will make it very loud and swing about 35 to 40 watts from a 2 watt dead key .you leave the limiter intact.I would have to email it to you since it is a large file with pictures on each mod.
cbtricks.com has the tuneup specs for the 88 so you can align it if needed
