cobra 29 problem

Post by kombat03 »

I tried to do the roger bleep mod that is on this website. I couldn't get the mike to key so I made a jumper from tx in to tx out. During testing I by accident grounded out the cb I made to the case and blew the fuse. I couldn't get it to work so I took all it out. Now I get alot of static when keying to the mike and the dead key dropped to around 1 watt. Any idea what I burnt out? Thanks for any help in this. I checked for cold sockets where I soldered the mike connections.

The lights do change from red to green when I key the mike. But the radio lights do dim a little when I key it. Thanks for any help with this problem.

I tested a brand new cobra 29 and the meter light dimmed the same amount as mine did.

possibly shorted or open fet 1 and or fet 2..try lifting the collector of tr-13 and tr-11 and see if audio returns.
