First I wanted to let you guy know that this MB is great. I don't know how I didn't find it sooner.
I have a small mobile linear that says it should have a 3.5 watt carrier. I set the radio up with a 3.5 watt carrier and a 7 watt pep and it keys at 100w and swings to 150w.
I can also turn the radio down to around 2 w and maintain the 7 w pep. If I do this it keys around 50w and swings to 150w.
Which is better?
Swing vs. DK
ok here ya go
In a mobile install its best to have a good carrier with good audio swing does not matter because of the mobile moveing around and the antenna whiping all over. your signal is going to be all over the place anyway.
So the best for what you have is set it so you have the most carrier with the best audio passable .
hoped this helped

i have a cobra 29 with a swing kit. i use a 150 amp.
i have a vareable dead key.
i usaly key with about 50-60 watt and let it swing.
i do know if you drive to hard with a high dead key it makes the amp get hoter faster. you can burn up the amp with a high dk.
just my two cents worth ...
