COBRA 148GTL DX......DEAD!!

I have a cobra 148gtl dx, it worked fine and then nothing. doesn't light up or anything. power supply is fine, fuse is good, protection diode is good.
what should i check next? what could cause this to happen?

all help and suggestions are welcome...im going nuts without my radio!!

the main pcb: PC-879AA

Sounds like the voltage regulator may be bad it should be mounted on speaker side of case on frame with 3 wires going to it some were 2sc1957 or 2sc2314 not sure which one this radio uses if this goes bad radio will not power up.

That's the MK1 with the PC 879 board in it.
Test the on off switch to make sure the voltage is both getting to it and coming out the other side of it when switched on, it could just be a dirty switch. Even with the regulator faulty the radio would still light up the channel display and meter.

I bet it was some think like a bad power lead or PSU.

I've noticed as well Rick.
I had one in last week with the same fault, it was one of the two diodes that had been added to the power inputs leads that had gone open circuit.
