Galaxy 66 in TX mode, when unit is power on for first time.

Post by Renegado »

I got a Galaxy 66 that had the mod 2030's done, and took the jumper board from ( TP 8, TP 7, TP 9 ) then solder TP 8 and TP9 together, leaving TP 7 by itself, and applied 10 volts to to TP 7, and gave me 10 watts dead key and a swing up to 45, and i had it in my big Rig for about a month working real good, then one day, i power on the unit, and gave me something like 5 watts dead key in the RX mode, with some back ground noise and it happened without pressing the mic, it key up by itself when unit power on for first time, then press the mic and goes back to normal, someone please help. Renegado.

PS.Happy new Year to all of you, and thanks to Rick for all the help he had provided to all of us

hi there,,it sounds like the tx rx switching transisot shorted.also should check diode d-77..the rx tx switching trans.,are tr-36 and tr-38..the part numbers are 2sa-1282.if you have a v.o.m. check the voltages at tr-36 and tr-38 and get back with us..............also check d-77 for short or open condition
