Stryker SR-440-HP
Stryker SR-440-HP
I have a new Stryker radio that i got a good deal on from a friend that was not satisfied with the output on the radio the main board #9821R20 and has the IRF520 finals. I checked the output on the radio and with the rf power turned all the way down the radio only keys 1/2 watt and swings to about 20 with modulation i tried to adjust VR16 to raise the carrier up but it would not adjust after looking at the board i found that there was no connections to VR16 for it to adjust. VR13 will adjust the high power and i would like to be able to leave it turned up and be able to set VR16 to obtain the low carrier level that i want. Anyone have any idea as to what needs to be done to make VR16 work or maybe install a tank circuit to set the carrier the way that i want it? Thanks in advance for any information.
Thought i would post what i did on this radio for others to try or use for reference. I installed a 1N914 diode from the emitter of TR49 to the collector of TR51 with banded end facing TR51 now with the RF power adjustment turned all the way down i can set carrier with VR13 to 1 to 2 watts and the radio will swing the full output which i am seeing 55 to 60 watts. Hope this information is useful to someone. You may want to check with some of the radio Techs. to make sure this is safe to do it is working fine on my radio so far. Thanks

hi guys ,i am wondering myself what exactly techs are doing to these stykers to get them so loud .whats the basic tune up for a stryker?
i just bought a stryker 440hp after doing the conversion i simply turned up the modulation vr (vr14)and this radio started swinging 55-60 watts from a 2 watt carrier.
i thought i might be missing something so i got too thinking.the turbo board has a audio amp on ot .i wonder if its turned up??so i went back in and turned up vr1 on the echo board ,got a little more modulation out of it doing this .it wasnt "all"the way up ,but it was close .its maxed out now .
is there anything else us end users can do to get more modulation without taking out the limiter??
would the limiter be tr53??in this radio.obviously these radios get good modulation without removeal of the limiter but i,m just curious.
thanks for any and all help anyone can provide .thanks.

Stryker 440
I love my stryker. I have one of the first ones with the m1104 in it.I had a PP1 installed to be used as a keyup.was wondering if anyone knows if you can use the KZ shift button as a toggle switch for the pp1.My tech tried it but it seems that the KZ shift still functions but does not toggle it on or off.So for now the keyup cant be turned off.Any advice would be helpful thanks
