Cobra 148 NW ST Clarifier Mod - Thanks RICK!!!

Post by RedEye »

Board # A2347 - 4 - 0 ?
(Only number I saw)

Does anyone have the clarifier mod for this as It is a different board design that side mic models.

How about the receive mod diodes?

Any help would be apreciated! I think these are the worst 148's cobra put out, but my freind wants the mods, so I am trying to help! Thanks in advance!

Clarifier modification

1) Lift anode of D-30 and connect a 5.6 uH choke in series.
2) Cut D-32.
3) Cut both traces on the PCB going to the clarifier .
4) Solder one wire to PCB ground.
5) Solder a wire from the other cut trace to an 8 VDC source
(note: 8 volts can be found on the cathode of D-50)
6)This should give you 5 kc of slide. If more slide is wanted then change D-30 to a super slide diode.

VERIFY THIS BEFORE YOU DO IT. I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS ONE.

This mod isn't correct, or at the very least is over complicated...
Clarifier mod is the same as prev models with a change in location and one resistor number.
Thanks to Rick on this one from a previous post in the archives!
