Cobra 148 gtl no AM TX ok on SSB

Hi all yes I am a newbe so I hope you will put up with me untill I get the hang of this. I have the same problem as Redeye a 148 gtl that works geat on SSB but Rec. is low on AM and no TX on AM but if I set a radio right next to it will move the meter on the other radio so there is some TX.
The PLL # is mb8719 and the PCB # is PC412AA.
