cobra 29 ltd 520 mod smoking

My friend did a rf520 mod but forgot to remove the l14 slug, smoked d8 and the t1 transformer. Where to get a transformer and what else should I look for that is possibly damaged . Thanks Matt.........

I probably have the parts you need to get it going, but I'd check and see if D8 was jumped...sounds like D8 either failed, or it was jumped and it cooked the audio transformer. Let me know.

d8 wasnt jumped , I replaced it along with the 520 that also was damaged. I need the t1 for sure.

You can bet there is something else shorted somewhere.
Because all this damage could not have been caused from
removing a tuning slug.I guess you know there is other
things that have to be done to the final section other than
just changing the 2sc2078 or 2sc1969 for the irf520.certain parts
have to be removed others added.

My friend Russ has performed the mod to probably a dozen radios, He said that he forgot to remove the slug and while tuning, smoke . I am not a tech by any means so all of the help is greatly appreciated. Matt.......
