mirage 99

Post by yamiraptor »

Hey there guys! I could use your help again. I have a mirage 99, made in malaysia, EPT360014b. Radio was working fine then turned it on one day and noticed that channel 19 was at 27.180 on the freq. counter. Thought the clarifier was moved but was not. Tried to move the clarifier to the right and it only goes to 27.182. Move it to the left it goes to 27.179. Put it on the bench and hooked it to another freq. counter and got the same results. Now when I key up on 19 it goes to 26.092, and when I unkey it goes back to 27.180. Now if I go to 28mhz and key up it will also go 26mhz. Something is all jacked up. Any help would be great.
Thank you Bill

Check for cold solder joints around the loop mixer, also check the voltage on Pin 8 of IC10.
Rick.

Thanks for the info Rick. I'll check around on the solder and check the voltage. I'll let you know what I find. Thank you again.

Hey there Rick! I unsoldered the little protective cover over Ic 10 to check the volts for pin 8 and when I powered it up the channels were back to where they should be. So there must be a cold solder. The volts on pin 8 were 7.43 I think it calls for 7.44 If i'm right. Also is it a must that I put the little cover back on or will it be ok with it off? Anyway i'll check out somemore of the solder and let you know what I come up with. Thanks again sir. Bill
