The Demco Power Modulator WAS/IS a tube type Pre amp that attached between the mic jack of the transmitter/transceiver and the microphone.
It had a chasis mounted mic jack to plug the mic into and a cord with a plug that went to the radio mic jack. They were originally made for the Demco Sattelite Base Station Assembly that was made up of the Demco Sattelite Transmitter, a receiver, external speaker, and the power modulator. This Base Station Assembly was also available under the name of the Sampson.
I hope that this helps!
