I just picked an amp today and I cant find any info on it. Its a Page 75 by Electronics Unlimited. Its works fine and puts out around 80 watts on my meter but i was curious if anybody knew what the max input would be for this amp. I dont want to overdrive it and blow it up. It looks to be pretty old . Thanks , Mike

Unless it says high drive 4 watts max dead key, setting the dead key at 2 or 3 will give better modulation, and the amp will run a bit cooler.

Thanks timrim , is the dead key all that matters. Does it matter how much the radio will swing. Does it hurt to lower dead key by tuning slugs or will i nned a swing kit. Thanks

Yes, it's the dead key that is really important to an amp, the modulation does not matter alot because the voice peaks are momentary instead of constant. A swing kit is better because if you de-tune the coils, the modulation will normally drop right along with it, resulting in lower output from the amp.

thanks again , one more question. Would a cobra 29 with the mosfet upgrade be okay to run with an amp. It deadkeys around 2 to 3 and swings around 40, or would the amp make that much of a difference ?

Yes, I have successfully set up many radios with MOSFETS and they do a very nice job of driving an amplifier.
