Cobra 150GTL DX Ch. split?

Has anyone tried to "split" the two segments of 40 channels on each band? In other words, is it possible to take the second set of channels and hook them to a switch so that instead of wearing out the channel knob you can flip a "high -low" switch like on a Galaxy or Connex? I thought about using the 10khz slider for this if its possible since it doesn't do anything after conversion anyway.This is the only real complaint I have bout this radio so far, its a real pain.Thanks.
