hey there tim,id check two things, first id check c-199,id also resolder the two legs of the 10.240 mhz. crystal.c-199 has been known to cause what your describing a buzzing sound on rx and tx.also if the 10.240 mhz. crystal gets a loose connection on one of its legs,it can cause frequency shifts.and by the way,no cb god here.there is only one god,and as the bible says he who knows this does well.i am just learning alot like a lot of others.thats why i come to these forums to learn.and as far as the man goes,my opions is there is one cb man on here, and its rick, cause he really knows his s**t.he has helped me out alot, and i try too help out others here when i can...........your friend jimmy a.k.a.....ramblinman

hey bub, well lets see here.now with your radio facing you, knobs toward you.look on the front right corner back approx.,2 inches, you should see a small eight legged i.c.,this is labeled ic-4,this is the mic amp/tr switch, right behind it you should see two small can capacitors, these are c-131 and c-132,then right behind them a bigger can capacitor, bingo its it,c-199 this is a 330 uf at 16 volt capacitor.change it out.then look on the left side of the radio about two thirds the back and to the left, you should see a group of tuning cans, about 13 to be exact.the first one you come to,this will be l-17,it is the v.c.o alignment, look just to the right of l-17 and bingo there it is .it will be labeled x-1 on the p.c.b..but you probably wont be able to see it.cause it is usually covered in bees wax around this area of the pc board.but if you look on the inside of the cystal,it should be labeled 10.240 mhz..........good luck bub,,,jimmy........ramblinman

yep,you should be able to get them at the shack, only problem is youll probably have to but a whole darn pack of assorted capacitors, just to get the one youll need.what a country huh.....you might just rob one out of an old radio,if you got one laying around.330 uf at 16 volts,or 25 volt,50,it really dont matter as long as its at least a 16volt or greater, and its not to large to fit into the area youre working.just make sure its a 330 uf.and as far as the screw goes a screwbeascrew........ramblinman......
