Uniden PC-76XL and PC-78XL Intermitant TX Trouble

I have 2 Uniden PC-76XL's with intermintant TX trouble. I also have a PC-78XL with the same problem. I have replaced the mic on all 3 of these units with the same results. All 3 units are stock with no modifications and as far as I can tell no tweeking of anything. One of them seems to be overmodulating but without being able to get my hands on a schematic I'm not sure what to turn down. Has anyone else had any problems with these??

Check for cold solder joints.
