I tried the search function but couldn't find anything on the Nightrider 150 as far as channel mods and other mods go.
I just won one off of E-Bay and wondered what its capable of doing. It has the MC145106 chip same as the newer 148GTL-DX but without the 2 adder chips..
Any help will be appreciated...channels, power mods

If the MC145106 PLL chip is accessible, this means that the 18-pin Z8 CPU on the channel-selector board is also accessible.
Every NR150 I ever saw had the PLL chip and the CPU globbed together on the main pc board under a layer of hard epoxy.
This was done precisely to prevent frequency expansion. The FCC would have never approved it for sale as a 40-channel CB without that 'feature'.
If yours does not have the potting compound, there should be a tiny jumper wire on one rear corner of the channel-selector pc board. This is the same channel selector as the North Star radios used, and the same jumper instructions should work.
Like for this one:

Or this one:

Just never saw a NR150 that was built to permit access to this feature.

This is the Northstar photo. The NR 150 is below. So if I cut the trace, I should get extra channels?
If that doesn't work, is there like an expo kit that will work??
