ok can i use a palomar elite h/d 300 with an rci 2980wx without hurting the radio ???? thanks for any advice,

A linear (in good shape and properly working) should never hurt a radio. On most models HD means High Drive meaning it is made for higher DK radios. Your Ranger would do great. Make sure you have good jumpers and a good SWR meter to check the setup. Don't rely on internal SWR meters! Good Luck and have fun!
