gotta old tug-8 4 wire d-104.[not a 6 wire]wanna hook it up a
4 pin uniden/cobra.i did little expermienting and seems to tx/rx
however to get fair audio gotta run d104 wide open and mic gain
wide open .did i hook it up right.

I think it should be wire color-pin number:
WH-2
SH-1
RED-3
BK-4

sounds like it may be wired correctly, but the crystal might have gone south, see if you can borrow the top from another D104 or just replace the crystal....
