Mirage 88 negative resistor

Post by momo »

My uncle pasted away and i got his Cb radio it is a mirage 88. I plugged it in to my truck when i did i put the red wire to the red wire and black to black thinking that this would work but for some reason the wire i was using was backwards on the shape so a positive charge went into the negative on the cb it started smoking and i opened it up and what looks like the remnants of a resistor was fried but everything else looks ok. i was wondering if anyone knew what resistor to use for this? it is connected to the board at the point "G" and to the negative point in the back. Or i was wondering if someone knew where to see the schematics?

The item you refered to as being fried is a wire wound choke that goes from power plug negitive to board groung. It should look the same as the one going from positive lead of power plug to the board. You may want to also check barrier diode to see if it is burnt also i think it is D93 or D91 in this radio.

It's D93. It may not look burnt but more than likely it's done. Part # 1n4003 diode. Have a good one.
