Replacement Channel Display on Uniden PRO640e

Has anyone replaced the channel display on the UnidenPRO 640e by removing the old one from the unitized all in one componet display that also contains the s/modulation/swr display and replacing it with one of the readily availaby channel displays from aftermarket sources? 
My understanding these are no longer available from uniden and those that may be found are horribly expensive. Thanks
