Cobra 29 Display Dims When Keyed

I have an EKL blue channel display in a Cobra 29 NW and the channel indicator dims when you key it.... I have heard talks of adding a resistor to remeby this but not sure where it may go.... Anyone experience dimming of the display and know how to fix it...
