Cobra 29 LTD Classic-Negative Peak Compression Modification?

Hello All,
Has anyone completed, or know where to find any Negative Peak Compression modification Information for a Cobra 29 LTD Classic?
I have my audio the way I want it, but I am interested in getting more modulation without over modulation.
I have figured out the the radio will only modulate to about 110% positive and 98% negative (Using Negative Peak Clipping) before the carrier Envelope/Audio Waveform starts to distort, which leads me to believe I am running out of audio drive, or the Primary side of the Transformer is limiting me.
So I guess I actually have 2 questions:
Negative Peak Compression (not clipping) mod : Is it possible?
And
Is there any way to increase the drive of the TA7222AP Audio IC to get more Positive modulation?
Thanks
