You do not say what the PCB number is, but if it’s a PC385, try changing C24 and C27.

Hi Rick, the stalker XX (20) uses the pcb-411 board & is the exact same pcb as the president madison with the MB8719 Pll chip uses.

That why we ask for the PCB number.

On the PC-411, check C72, C73, C74, and D65.
Also, check the voltage base and collector at TR13 with the squelch on and off.

Hi Rick, but the stalker 20 has a seperate squelch pcb its pc-547.

The PC-547 board is the sample, hold controller, and channel 9 squelch gate, which is part of the scanning system, it is not the main squelch, and the main squelch is on the main PCB.

If you have adjust the per-sets on the PC-547 board you will upset the main squelch control, you will need to realign before you do any more.

Hi Rick, yes you are right there are 2x vr's on the pc-547 board 1 is for the channel 9 squelch gate & the other is the main squelch. So which componant would you suspect to be the problem on the main pcb for the open/closing slowness on the main squelch?

I advised you the components to test on my 10th November post.

I do not know how to test them as there is no mention of voltages in the service manual i have for this rig. However i replaced tr13 with a replacement, still no difference.

It is no good just replacing a component until you have tested them, this will not help you find the fault
.
To find out how to test component, do a Google search that may help you.

I do not wish to be rude but if you do not know what you are doing, it would be best to take the radio to so one how can help you.

You cannot expend to ask a technical question and get a step-by-step answer, we can only advice you what to do, it is up to you to have the knowledge to know how to use the advice.

Maybe if you could be ar*ed to explain in detail what the voltages should be etc & not be so condescending, then maybe i could fix the problem myself, thanx for your feeble input, i will ask elsewhere, goodbye.

If you think, my last post was condescending its only because you do not understand.

It is no good asking what the voltage should be, as this would not help you.
How would it help you if I told you the voltage was too high or to low?
It would be better if can tell me the voltages and then I can hopefully help you.

This is why I ask you to test the voltage at the collector and base of TR13 and to test the caps and diode.
If you do not know how to test the components, then you need to find out how to test them, that why doing a Google search may help you.

Many people I help on this forum and other forums are more than happen with my help, and I sorry I cannot help every one.

It may help if you read this www.radiomods.co.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?t=312

One think to remember is I give my time freely.
