How can I increase Dynamike range on Cobra 29?

This has been something I've wanted to do for some time now. I've done it on my Cobra 25 and it works well and I wanted to know if anyone knows how to do it on a 29.

On the 25, you decrease the value of the resistor in R76. I know I can get a power mike, but that's not the point. Any ideas?

Change R67 from a 33 ohm to a 10 ohm.... Enjoy

does this in any way affect the amount of background noise the mike may pick up??

If you are using a stock mic it will make it more sensitive and increase response but you will get a bit more noise.... If using a noise cancelling mic, this will give it a nice boost without the obvious worry of increased background noise.... You could just keep the mic gain lower with a stock mic.... Do not do this if using a power mic.... Your just opening up the mic amp a little.... I do this on all my radios without echo boards ( echo board has a mod. amp so this is unnecessary ) and never had anyone complain of background noise when using a noise cancelling mic.... Keeping your AMC intact is a plus.... Try it and if you hate it then just swap it back.... The original R67 is a 33ohm 1/4 watt resistor....

Awesome! Thank you very much for the info 1096. Do you know if there is a way to do it on a 148 GTL?
