Radio Make and Model: President Jackson
PCB Number: 042AB
PLL Number: 145106
Test gear available: DMM, O-scope, Freq counter,
Symptoms: Radio has no AM RX. No static only very slight hissing noise. AM does TX.

What is working: USB and LSB work perfect.

What has been tried: I looked for cold solder joints, but found none.

Did it suddenly happen ?: I received the radio in this condition.
Anything else that may be of help?: It looks like the radio has had some work done to it. It has a HI-LOW power switch in the back and some of the 47uf 10v caps had been replaced.

I have read a few threads on the forums and have tried to locate some components, but I am not that familiar with this radio. If someone could give me the locations on the pcb for the overload diodes, transistors and caps that should be checked and replaced, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Alex,
The issue was a bad Electrolytic Capacitor. It was a while ago and I don't remember the pcb location although it was towards the center of the pcb near the rear of the chassis. The Cap was a 10v cap and should be replaced with a 16v or higher voltage rating, but the capacity should stay the same.I hope that helps.
