The proper way to tune a D&A Maverick 250?

Post by SoCal392 »

Hello, I have mediocre experience tuning tube linears but recently accuired this D&A. I was suprised to find so many different things to tune. my question is, what is the proper sequence to tune this amp, should I be finding the max output for each, how does the grid tuner on back of unit play into all of this? I greatly appreciate anybodys time.

All D&A amps must be maxed out by there metters on the high side once that is done you must overcouple the amp for best audio and swing. turn top left control turn to the right and drop down 4oo millie amps thats 4 digits on the meter and your done for better audio on the low side over couple to 500 millieamps

the grid tune is for the final bios to adj key amp on the high side and tune for max on the amp's meter

key it up with no audio turn off the mic gain so that you have a dead key

hope this helps 73's

im not sure how many knobs there are on the mavs...but....what i do is adjust the "load" until i get max rms on the bird meter

then...i "tune" for max rms...i usually try to tune between the 2 channels that i use the most..

the load will not change as long as you use the same antenna

thats how i do my tuber...correct me if i am wrong
