2SB827 am regulator question in ss3900
Hi guys. I've done a search but not found an answer to my question. I use a new ss3900 blue led version with dual mosfet finals(not sure if it's Crt or Ranger). For some reason, after about 30 mins of talking the 2sb827(tr51) gets real hot and the mic plug gets quite warm as a result. This happens u...

Beep change on pcma002f board
Hi. I've just picked up an old mustang 1000 that uses the same board as the Amstrad 901, etc. Does anybody know how to turn the standard roger beep into a peewit type beep. I did it years ago, but can't remember how i went about it. All help appreciated. Cheers.

Re: Irf520 mosfet question
Set it to factory settings. Everything is still set to factory settings apart from the alc. I needed to turn up the alc slightly as the ssb power was going no higher than about 2-3 watts even when shouting down the mic which isn't really acceptable. Now, back on topic? Anyone know if these mosfets ...

Irf520 mosfet question
Hi. My rig used 2 x irf520 mosfets for its final stage. What would be a safe operating power for both of these on fm and ssb without frying them please? Would they have longevity coping with 10w carrier on fm and approx 25 watt pep on the ssb? It's a new radio and i don't really want to be replacing...

EURO 3900 IRF520 conversion
All new Superstar 3900 radios(with the blue s meter and channel readout) are using 2 x irf520 mosfets for the output. My 3900 does 10 watts am/fm and 20 pep on ssb. Will these handle ok at these ratings? I always wondered why Mitsubishi discontinued the good old 2sc1969. They were very robust.

Alc on the Superstar 3900 question
Hi Guys. Just bought a Superstar 3900(Cobra 148 rip off) and noticed they've done away with the old 2sc1969 final and replaced it with 2 x Irf520 outputs. Anyway, to cut a long story short, i keyed on fm/am and my power meter shows 10 watts which is fine, however when i talked into the mic on ssb i ...

Will they exchange?
No, the 10kc switch isn't on and i've checked the frequency with the plug in Superstar counter and also used a frequency sniffer. In your estimation do you think he'll do a direct exchange though? I can't stand anymore of this.

Will they exchange?
Hi guys. I bought a Superstar 3900el from tk about 2 weeks ago. As soon as i received the radio there was a tone emanating from the unit. I phoned him explaining this, and he was fair and suggested i returned the radio for an exchange. Anyway, i learnt to live with it and kept it. Anyway, just notic...

Opinions on the Astatic minuteman 2 please
Just ordered it. Came to a total of £53 inc shipping, so i hope it's the bees knees. I'll be using it homebase with a Superstar 3900el. Will report back when it's arrived. Cheers.

Superstar 3900el & 2sc1969 question
Thanks Timtim. In addition, i did the idiot thing just to check the peak power out on ssb by whistling into the mic for about 3 secs. The power meter showed 24-25 watts. In your opinion, or anyone else would this have caused any damage to the final 2sc1969 even though it's still working please? Ie - ...

Superstar 3900el & 2sc1969 question
Hi guys. Just got a superstar 3900el. I look at the schematic and notice that it uses a 2sc1969 final. According to datasheets the tranny is rated at 18 watts max, yet in my ss3900 manual it says the output power of the radio is 10w am/fm and 21w pep on ssb. If i use ssb regularly, isn't it going to...

Superstar 3900el query
Hi guys, superb forum. I've just bought a new Superstar 3900el. It's the new release with blue led readout and illuminated nightlight front panel(like the cobra 200). Anyway, everything works as should, but there's an annoying quiet but audible high frequency continuous tone emanating from the radio...
