JWR MK2

Post by jrc »

Hello one and all

I have just got a blast from the past from a car boot sale.
I got a JWR Mk 2 CB, God that takes me back a few years.
But in the day, I had an Icom ICB 1040 CB radio, it had the same bord as the JWR Mk 2.
The guy that I got the Icom off, had done a mod to it to give it 40 more channels.
But the thing was that the channels was set at 5Kc's apart, and not the normal 10Kc's.
I did have the lid off to have a look, and I seem to remember a wire that was hook'd up to one of the pins on the IC.
But I do not know what he did to the rig, or how it was done.
So I would like to know if anyone knows what it is that I am talking about, and how the hell do you do it ???
As long as you do not need a lot of test equipment like a scope, then I think that I might be able to do the job
If any one can tell me what to do, nothing to technical, and photo od drawing would help.
The IC number is: MC145106P
I hope that might help ???

I hope for some good news form one of you very soon

Bye from John

A bit late but I've answered this very same question on another forum.
You need to wire a resistor about 10K to pin 6 of the PLL and put the other end to 0v (GND) through a switch.
The PLL now counts in 5 instead of 10, hence the 40 channels in 5KC steps and not 10KC's but god knows how low it goes in frequency.
How far is it.
Twice it's length from halfway.
