I have put a copy of the owners manual on CBTricks which may help. I am re-drawing circuit diagram but it will not be completed for a few more months

There was a mod for this problem, which was done with a NiCad battery, two diodes and resistor, but we are talk about a radio, which I have not seen for over 20 years. I will see if I can find my old notes but I would not hold out much luck.
