What is the possible causes of the word CODE flashing when this radio is powered up. The radio is not yet in my care, I am trying to help the gentleman determine if it needs to be sent to me for service. I have been repairing Radios since 1975 and have yet to even see a President George, so it must be pretty rare.

If the display is flashing ''codE'' then it is in the Test Mode, to stop the test press M1 and hold it for 5 seconds.

If the display is flashing Random Codes then it is most likely that the CPU is faulty.

If the display is flashing “codE 1 to 5” then the VCO or Mixer has a fault.

If the display is flashing “codE A to F” then the keep POWER depressed and press M1 has should clear the fault.

If the code stop flashing when you have cleared the fault you may need to reprogram the CPU, this is easy just follow the procedure below.

1. Depress POWER NB/ANL and PROGRAM simultaneously and keep pressed down to the display lit off.
2. Release POWER and keep pressed NB/ANL and PROGRAM down: "codE" flashes in the display, and wait for "codE" disappears.
3. Release NB/ANL and PROGRAM
4. Push MODE one times.
5. Push M1 one times.
6. Push M3 one times.
7. Push PROGRAM one times.
8. Push PROGRAM 4 times.
9. Push POWER
---------------------------------------------
There are a lot more codes but there are the common ones.

Good luck.

Thank you, Rick!

I think it is just the word code, so it looks like we will be ok. I just googled this radio, looks very nice, don't know why I never saw one before. The win-george software looks nice, I think he is going to have me make the computer interface.
