hr2510 squeals thru speaker

PLL Number:
Test gear available:
Symptoms: rf meter reads full scale squeal thru speaker, lcd dim like if transmitting

What is working:

What has been tried: unplugged antenna and mic. no change, checked supply voltage

Did it suddenly happen ?: yes
Anything else that may be of help?: I checked the swr and about 2 minutes later started to hear a squeal thru the speaker, checked the rf meter was reading full scale. now when turned on it squeals if i press the ptt switch the tx indicator lights

What test gear do you have available to you ?

Remove the top cover, and touch the IC that is just behind the two vertical PCBs on the main PCB, marked as IC101 (it an NJM2902N), if it feels hot when the radio is on then replace it.

humm hooked it back to the power supply, after a couple days of no power to it, and it receives fine today no squeal... has choppy/rasp modulation on transmit..

test equipment available digital and analog meters, sig gen, old scope,sig tracer
