I have a trc 451 that has low transmit. I took it in to the repair shop and it was reading 3 on transmit and then would drop off to zero. now it just sits at zero no matter what antenna i use and the swr meter even on calibrate reads about 1.2 and swr reads 1. Anyone have any idea's as to what this problem might be. I also noticed that when the center plug for antenna cable is in but the connector is not tightened down then on transmit the signal jumps up to about 5lbs on the signal meter. The cb was at the repair shop for about 5 months and they had no idea.

It would be best to find out what is going on by trying the radio with a dummy load and power meter, if the radio is putting out full power in to the dummy load then fault is with the antenna.

sorry, forgot to mention this is happening on dummie load as well as several antennas

Try replaceing the final TR38 (2SC1969).
