midland problems

Radio Make and Model: midland 79-265 77-104xl
PCB Number:
PLL Number:
Test gear available: commnications monitor, signal gen, freq counter, oscilloscope, signal generator, DMM, analog meters, signal tracers... etc..
Symptoms:
no receive audio after microphone plug shorted on both radios
What is working:
transmit working, s/rf indicators working receives signal
What has been tried:
voltage measurements chkd for signal at vol control no signal
Did it suddenly happen ?: yes
Anything else that may be of help?:

Hi,

Shorting the mic socket on the 104 midland should not have damaged anything. Pins 2 and 4 on the mic socket must be shorted for you to get any recieve audio (then disconnected under tx), maybe your mike isn't wired quite right.

I'm not sure about the other midland but would suspect similar.
