Mack,
I can't remember what can it is but there is one of them at the front of the radio that doesn't have a iron dust core. If the radio works OK without it don't bother about it.

How far is it.
Twice it's length from halfway.

Mack,
Check the final (1969) to see if it has any voltage on it's collector pin, that's the centre one when you key the mike. That radio has three power setting and as you switch from low power to mid then high the voltage should go up to about 13v in the high position. Let us know if it does.

Mack,
If there is no voltage at the collector of the final check D16 to make sure there is voltage there with the power switch set to the high position. D16 is in front of the transformer.

It sounds like no output from PLL maybe the VCO is not locked.

Mack,
Did you check D16 and is it working OK ?.
As for the PLL there are two different PLL's fitted to the radio what's yours as i might have a used one in the scrap pile.

Hi mack1279 going by the diagram and ive owned many of these rads a quick cheat solder a piece of wire to the Ariel sckt and work back wards looking at your power meter and like the gentlemen say check to see at what stages there is any out put via the voltage meter i found in the past that on this radio this method works quite well and the problem is either L13 OR L15 that you need to change . this method dont do on other radios because its only a quick determination if the fault lies between the driver and final pa stages. ps insulate the wire as you dont want to get any rf burns from the 10 watts. They hurt like hell.ooch..dirty method indeed'.'
