Yaesu ft-897d (does anyone have a mod for better am tx?)

I am looking for a mod for my ft-897d that will make it work better on am.as it is any $10.00 C.B. will out perform it. Thank you, needlebender2811

Hi needlebender2811,
It sound like you are over driving to hi modulation, You should set the mic gain so that only a few segments of indication on the ALC meter. Also the max output on AM must be below 25 watts to get good modulation. Hope this helps.
