Galaxy Viagra 120 board vs 8719 jumper switches

Post by RedEye »

What is the advantage to the viagra 120 board over just installing the switches on the 8719 pll chip? I just got a 959 with the viagra board installed.

Next question, Can I pull the 8719 pll and swap it out with a 8734 pll? ( That way I could mod a cobra 2000 with the 8719.

Thanks in advance!!!!

The Viagra board gives you Low band 26.515 to 26.955 Mid or CB band 26.965 to 27.405 and Hi band 27.415 to 27.855. With switches, you need a switch chart to let you know the switch combination. It is much easier with the Viagra board.

Why not just buy a MB8719 they are cheap.

Rick.

Thanks for the info Rick! I know 8719's are cheap.... LOL I'm just cheaper!!!

P.S. I don't know if you remember the 148 we were working on just before you traveled to the states last year, Bad Freq. problem.... L20 had a METAL trim screw in it instead of the ferrite it is supposed to have. Didn't notice till I put it on the self for a few months and relooked at it later. Replaced l20 from a parts radio, realigned and it works great. Thanks for sticking with me on that one!
