when I Key the mike I get a squeal an it jumps about 800 kc in frequency I 'am not real familiar with this radio. any body have any ideas?

shield(copper wire with no covering) wire in your mike cord
did you just get this radio??? or have you had it for years and it just started doin this??
try a different mike
does it only do it when you are up close to the radio with the mike?

frogman; tried different mikes still dose the same thing, only after it warms up. close or far talk back on or off..
