Cobra 29 EKL 2030 problem

Had a perfect working Cobra 29 LTD classic decided to put in the 2030 mod. did everything shown on this page "http://www.cbtricks.com/miscellaneous/f ... 29_mod.jpg" mine is less than a year old so i did the mods for the newer radio's. The problem when i key up I have absolutly nothing come out. No talk back no neddle movement. it still receives fine. I tried pulling the 2 ekl components out replacing them with other new one's and still got nothing. Any one who might know whats I skrewed up? The polariety is correct on my 1230 piece.

Now I swoped everything back to stock, stock final stock resistors and cap's and the problem presists, the radio will key. the tx/rx lights changes you hear the radio click out and it can almost key my amp up. but still no power jus dead. if this helps.

Check for voltage at the final, make sure there is no solder cross conecting any pads. If you say it is tx'ing very weak, it sounds as if the driver is working.

Well one leg of my final wasnt connetcting to the board right, and now i have full dead key again like before but i still have no audio coming out or swing.

have you done p.a. test..any audio in p.a. hookup external speaker into p.a. jack switch radio to p.a. mode..talk into mic,and see if you get audio here

got it all working, aparently i pulled one of my echo board conections loose but not completly off retouched them all and it all came back kinda of a disapointing mod though with my stock trans, i was pushing 22.5 peak swing now I'm at 25 peak swing thought it would make a lil more jump with since i wasnt replacing a 1969 but my dead key did lower down so much that i had to go from a 100 ohm to a 67 ohm across jumper 36 to get my dead key high enough to cut on my amp thanks for the help though.

what was your bias voltage or on the ekl2030 if you dont see between 2.7 - 3.0 volts you wont see much if any improvement on this mod. you will want to get a 10k pot and set the bias voltage first then you will see better results. i have more info on this mod for the 29 and 25 cobra i spent about two weeks tweeking this mod at my shop and got it working well. you may also want to get rid of your swing kit on this radio. It is not needed on the ekl mod. It is also hard on the ekl mosfet. I will post more info when i get to my notes in the shop.
