Northpoint nt 9 hp-Anyone have one of these??

Post by ramblingman »

Reason i ask,i bought one from a guy on ebay in non-working
state awhile back. This is the first one of these i have
worked on.It has similar workings as a galaxy or
northstar,with many additives.Looks like someone
has added alot of extra parts on foil side of pc board.
As well as mods on inside. It has a s.w.r shutdown board.
Also some kinda small board undeer the echo board.
Which i assume is some sort handsfree set, with two mic
jacks. What i need is if someone has one of these. Is
pics of the component as well as foil sides of pc board.
If i can return this to stock.Id have better chance of
fixing it.....thanks in advance...........ramblingman

HELLO Rick.Sorry for the lack of info. Thanks for
keepin me straight...But the only number i see
on the pcb is M-294HB-C But id looks to me
like a 360014b clone.Because all of the active
devices.varaibles.ect. are all in the same locations as the
3600 board.All except ic-9 the tx-mixer is located
on the foil side of pcb.it is a postage stamp style i.c
And like i say it has that swr shutdown board.
And what probably is a handsfree mic board.
Which is located right in front of the echo board.
It is about 1 1/2 inch square board with 2 mic jacks
on it.one is a 1/4 in jack,the other is a 1/8 inch jack.
It also has a 2sb688 mounted behind the 2sb754
am mod amp.Which wires from the collector of it
to tp-7,tp-7 has been isolated from mirror board.
and wire from the emitter of it to,to the emitter
of tr-51 on the foil side of pcb.And a 15 k 1/4 watt
resistor from the base to the collector of it.It being the
2sb688.

The NT9 you have is almost the same as the second generation of the Magnum S9, which was made by North Star.
This link may help www.cbtricks.com/radios/rflimited/magnum_s9/index.htm

Look out for bad electrolytic caps as they use low grade types.
Upgrade all electrolytic caps to 16 or 25 volt.
